The Greater Washington Fashion Chamber of Commerce (GWFCC) and Pink Jams! presents PINK FASHION ROCKS Wednesday night at the Longview Gallery in D.C., starring fashion designer Betsey Johnson and iTunes 2009 Rewinds New Rock Band of the Year, the Charm City Devils. Fourteen local designers will be present to show off their pink creations, some custom-made for this event. Local models (some breast cancer survivors) will walk down a down a hot pink runway. And, of course, there's lots of great food and drinks, including hors d'oeuvres by Silver Spring's Daily Dish. Started by Christa Floresca, Pink Jams! raises money for cancer awareness through great events featuring live music and the arts. VIP tickets get you not only swag but entree into a cocktail reception with designers, models and celebrity guests. General tickets for $50 include the show, food and drink. All proceeds go to Pink Jams! and GWFCC's DC Fashion Foundation. Click here for tickets and more information. See you in the pink Wednesday night!

Brunch,Lust & Lingerie
This insane Washington snow is disrupting not only power, warmth and sanity, but also wreaking havoc on fun events scheduled around town. Most appropriately rescheduled from Feb. 7 to Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, is the "Love, Lust & Lingerie" fete at Sylene lingerie boutique in Chevy Chase from 10:30 to 12. A don't-miss for the hitched and single alike, the event features champagne (YES! I've been cooped up waaay too long), mimosas, light brunch nibbles and an inspired panel in place to answer all of your lust and love questions. Andrea Rodgers who advises the lovelorn on her Ask Miss A website (and who is also featured in February's Washingtonian magazine) will team up with Cathy Alter, whose hilarious memoir Up for Renewal offers a way up and out of the horrible love/lust choice rut; Jess McCann, who reveals the successful sales pitch to snag scores of men in You Lost Him at Hello (love that title); and Kerry Reichs, author of the always-a-bridesmaid bildungsroman, The Best Day of Someone Else's Life. Don't worry, shy ones; you can write your questions anonymously on little pieces of paper and the panel will share their fabulous insights with you. ANY advice from these participants is sure to be not only wise, but extremely witty. Attendees also enjoy a 20% discount off sexy sleepwear.
RSVP REQUIRED. RSVP at 301-654-4200 or http://sylene.eventbrite.com/

Blizzard? Wha dat? My neighbor is in the Super Bowl
Though the big news around here this weekend is a giant snowstorm promising to bury us under 2 feet of snow, the even bigger news around my neighborhood is local boy Colin Cloherty, who got picked up by the Indianapolis Colts and is on the roster for the Super Bowl this Sunday. I actually live in his old house and can look out my back window to the "new" house he grew up in. He went through elementary school with my daughter but went off to private school (Gonzaga) so he could play football. Let's face it. We love Walter Johnson H.S. but if they win--even once--it's a huge cause for celebration. So, though I love saying "who dat" I gotta root for the Colts on Sunday and hope the boy gets a Super Bowl ring. I can stand in his former bedroom tonight and wonder how it would show on a sports celebrity house tour. I can say the tight end was part of "play group" and that he got chicken pox from my daughter. Wow. And it all happened right here. Our own overnight sports sensation ( I just saw him interviewed on ESPN and read about him in the Washington Post). The SUPER BOWL for crying out loud. Sorry, snow. You've been waaaay outdone around here.

From inlaws to outlaws
Bloomie's take on spring 2010 is all about unconventional pairings and good girl/bad girl combos. Find feminine ruching and pleats as well as classic designs updated with bad-girl cutouts. Innerwear and outerwear mix and match in sheer, sexy layers by Alberta Ferretti and Jean Paul Gaultier. Say goodbye to slouchy blazers as Chanel edges its classic structured jacket back in, this time with fringed trim. The hottest shoes? Menswear oxfords by Stuart Weitzman and Pour la Victoire and clogs--yes--clogs by Chanel. As far as jewelry goes, find it in jeweled belts. Ladylike wrists are to be adorned with oversized watches and chunky bangles. So there.

Decorating Zeitgeist
I'm expecting house guests in two short weeks - which gives me the perfect excuse to completely redo my "guest" room--a forlorn space currently home to a mishmash of hand-me-down furniture, discarded toys, bags of old clothes, a motley assortment of "art" and a 22-year-old creaky sofabed. UGH. Oh, yeah, and did I mention the end table I pilfered from the curb in the hopes of refinishing it? So you can imagine how excited I am to see that my local Pottery Barn is holding a bedroom decorating class the very week (Feb. 7) I'll be tackling my new project. Zeitgeist.
